Seriously, When is the First Time We’ll See the Sun in Yakima in 2025?
We had a brutal summer in 2024. Days on end with the sun beating down on everyone, all of those UV rays and temperatures in the triple-digits where heat stroke is a very real thing around here.
And during those hot summer days when everyone was wishing for rain and cooler weather. Well, it's here and has been here for too long.
I'm over these gray skies and raining, sometimes snowy conditions. Every once in a while, I get it. But this has gotta stop.
Seasonal Affective Disorder is Real
The Mayo Clinic calls it Seasonal Affective Disorder which is very prominent in cities like Seattle that sees more cloudy days than not, but here in Yakima where we advertise 300 days of sunshine, I'm gonna need more vitamin D, if you please.
When is the First Time We'll See the Sun in 2025?
The good news is we shouldn't have to wait too long.
Still a few days, but still.
The weather is saying as soon as Monday, January 6th but it could be, most likely, January 7th, will be the next time sunlight hits the Yakima Valley.
But don't expect it to melt the snow too much or anything like that, it'll still be cold.
Monday, January 6th is looking for a high of 40 while Tuesday, January 7th is looking at a high of near 37, only.
From there and for the next couple of weeks, that trend should continue. Mostly cloudy skies but highs around 40 but it's not slated to rain or snow or anything. Just be cold. Good news if you're planning on driving anywhere.
