Help Canelo Find a Forever Home in Yakima Today
With National Dog Day being earlier this week, many celebrated the Taylor Swift news, but for people who really knew what was important, they celebrated our fuzzy four-legged family members.
I’ve grown up having a dog, and can’t imagine my life without one.
Whether it was the dogs that lived with my grandparents, or Buster, my first dog at the age of 8, or now in my 40s with little Rusty. My dog is my shadow, my sidekick, my best friend.
Then I see on the Yakima Humane Society’s Facebook page the story of Canelo, and my heart breaks.
Yakima Humane Society’s ‘Meet Canelo’
Canelo is a one-year-old Australian Kelpie and Shepherd mix, medium-sized, roughly 50-pound good boy.
He has been in Yakima Humane Society’s care for over 230 days. 230 days in a kennel, waiting for his forever family to come and bring him home. Bring him to a family so that he can be someone’s shadow, someone’s sidekick, someone’s best friend!
“This enthusiastic boy can't wait to go on walks and would love to go on hikes if that is something you are interested in; if not, he is cool with running around a backyard instead. He knows the command 'sit' and is working on 'off' since he does still jump up, but once he gets his wiggles out, he is such a good boy.” - YHS Facebook

He loves to play, is good with car rides, but might not be great with cats. With him being only a year old, he’s the right age to soak up loads of knowledge and commands.
Please help spread Canelo’s story, and help him or any of the animals at the Yakima Humane Society. Adoption, donation, or just spending time helping out. Anything and everything is welcome.
