The season is full of joy and wonder. It’s a time of miracles, as well as a time of Christmas mischief and memes. Speaking of the latter, there’s a new meme floating around social media that is making a lot of folks curious, including myself. In the past, I’ve called the Santa Hotline, and it filled my little kid heart with joy when I got Santa’s answering machine.

If you have no clue what the Santa hotline was, it was a phone number (late 80s, early 90s) that would give you a direct line to Santa’s workshop. You could save on postage and the mail carrier’s backs while simultaneously ringing up your parent’s phone bills! It was great! It was the easiest way to make sure Santa got your Christmas list and to give your final pleas to be taken off the naughty list. Seem to work like a charm every year. At least, I assumed it worked.

I’m not sure how often Santa got my voicemails. I’ve been tempted to drunk dial him at 2 in the morning in April just to see how well his receptionist elves are paying attention, but that’s another story for another time. This time around, it’s all about The Grinch!

The internet meme that’s been popping up on my social feeds is a pretty simple one. It shows an up-close view from the cover of the Jim Carey version of The Grinch along with “202-225-4965. The Grinch’s phone number… you’re welcome.” So, curiosity and Santa Hotline nostalgia got the better of me. Check out the video below to hear what I heard.

There you have it, the Grinch’s hotline. I don’t care what your stance or leaning in life is; I was amused, and hopefully, you are too. If you are not, I guess we can add another reason to boycott The Grinch.
