These Yakima County Restaurants Had Zero Violations in August

Last month, the Yakima Health District did inspections on 38 county restaurants; only 13 of them had a perfect 0 violation score.

Instead of focusing on the ones who didn't get a passing score, thereby needing a re-inspection, compliance inspection, or 8-week inspection, this report will focus on the ones who made the cut.

Why Restaurants Get Inspected by the Health District

Restaurant owners are responsible for making sure they don't serve food that can make us sick. They have to ensure each employee has a food handlers permit, properly stores food in appropriate temperatures so the food doesn't spoil or get rancid, has clean hands and sanitizes surfaces where they prepare our food, and abides by the County's other regulations regarding hot water, pest control, utensil storage, and more.

Most of the restaurants inspected in August passed inspection but had at least one listed violation. One restaurant was given a 48-hour closure notice; another had locked doors with no one on site; and two restaurants did not have their mobile food truck at the addresses listed on their business locations so they could not be inspected. Only one restaurant failed inspection.
