LOTS OF PEOPLE WILL BE WITHOUT A JOB SOON IN OREGON
The closures will mean 600 employees will be left without a job. Walmart operates some 5,000 stores around the country with some being not as profitable as others but the closures in Portland are the direct result of problems with theft. While stores in the state suffer from losses just like other states the stores in Portland Oregon have seen higher rates of theft that impact profit.
STORES AND RESTAURANTS ARE CLOSED BECAUSE OF CRIME
Portland officials say it's not just the small stores that are feeling the impact it's also the large box stores. a letter posted on the company’s store reads “Small businesses (and large) cannot sustain doing business, in our city’s current state. We have no protection, or recourse, against the criminal behavior that goes unpunished."The letter says the city is in peril because business owners say they can't continue operate with no protection against criminals who are not being held responsible by law enforcement or courts in Oregon.
EVEN NIKE CLOSED THE PORTLAND OREGON STORE
Nike and Cracker Barrel closed in the city in 2022 also because of problems with crime and theft. Walmarts are also being closed in other states including Arkansas, Florida, Illinois and Wisconsin.
