From Tiny Miracles to Turbo Toddlers: Celebrating Tate and Carter
Meet Tate and Carter, our Children's Miracle Network Family of the Month!
They are a couple of kids who bring joy and laughter to everyone who meets them, and their journey into the world started off a bit frightening to their parents.
Carter and Tate were born as preemies. They came 14 weeks earlier than expected. After being born, they were welcomed in with care to the NICU** at Yakima Memorial Hospital.
Each of the twins weighed less than 2 and a half pounds: one was only 2lbs 9oz and the other a mere 1lb 14oz.
Tate and Carter both needed to visit doctors at St. Joseph's in Tacoma. The Memorial Foundation in Yakima stepped in to help Carter and Tate's parents get essential elements, including donor breast milk and life-saving gear suited especially for preemies.
Some of the Memorial Foundation's financial support to their family was made possible from private donations from people like you and me--local folks who want to lend a helping hand to our neighbors.
In October 2024, you helped the Foundation raise over $56,000 at the CMN Radiothon! This helps the Memorial Foundation provide not only financial assistance to families like Carter and Tate's but also helps give emotional support and other therapies to local kids at Children's Village.
The Foundation is happy to report that now Tate and Carter are busy "living their best lives, zooming around on their John Deere tractor, and soaking up family fun outdoors" with the rest of their family.
