HOW MANY CONCERTS WILL BE HELD IN DOWNTOWN YAKIMA THIS SUMMER?

A big change for the free Downtown Summer Nights concert series this summer. It's being called the reimagined three-night Downtown Summer Nights concert series, hosted by the Downtown Association of Yakima. A press release says instead of the weekly Thursday night concerts only three major concerts are set for the summer.

IT'S BEING CALLED AN INTENTIONAL SHIFT TO FREE UP RESOURCES

Curt Wilson, executive director of the Downtown Association of Yakima says the three concerts this summer will feature headline and opening acts, local food vendors, and a 21+ beer garden. He says all concerts are free and will be held in the back lot of the Rotary Pavilion Marketplace at 15 W. Yakima Avenue. “This year marks an intentional paradigm shift,” says Wilson, "we’re focusing our energy on three high-impact nights that we believe will bring even more excitement, larger crowds, and a better overall experience." Wilson calls it a "more sustainable approach" and he says it allows the association to use resources in other projects.
