It's time for the annual Spokane Lilac Festival to celebrate the beauty of the Lilac. The annual week of activities leading up to the festival and big torchlight parade started Monday. Check the information below for a schedule of events.
IT'S A FESTIVAL THAT'S BEEN AROUND FOR DECADES AND ENDS WITH A HUGE TORCHLIGHT PARADE
It's a festival that's been celebrating the Spokane community since 1938. The annual week of activities kicked off Monday with events in the community to paint the town purple ends with the nation's biggest Armed Forces Torchlight Parade downtown Spokane on Saturday night. If you attend expect a lot of people because ever year the parade draws a huge crowd of more than 150,000 people.
HAVE YOU SEEN THE LILACS IN SPOKANE? ENJOY THEM WITH BEER
All the festivities happen on the second Saturday in May and end on the third Saturday of the month when lilacs are in full bloom. But before you enjoy the parade on Saturday you are invited to the third annual Spokane Lilac Festival Brewfest on May 18 from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm at Spokane's Riverfront Park. More than 30 local breweries come together so you can enjoy a wide variety of tastings along with vendors and live music. Even though the festival has happened for decades the brewfest was added 3 years ago.
