5 Best Places in Washington for a Family Vacation This Summer

1.
The Olympic Peninsula
Whether you decide to hang out on the beach, visit a rainforest, float on a lake, hike, or soak in a hot spring, your family vacation will be memorable here. There are places to go camping, fishing, and boating, as well.
2.
The San Juan Islands
Fun Fact: There are 172 places that make up the San Juan Islands. The main islands of Friday Harbor, Lopez Island, Orcas Island, San Juan, and Shaw are the main inhabited islands. This area of Washington state is perfect for a summer vacation, heck, even Oprah Winfrey used to own an enclave on one of the private San Juan Islands. If you’re lucky, you might spot orcas swimming in the waters.
3.
Lake Chelan
I love going to Lake Chelan. You can take the boat out for a breezy and relaxing ride and camp on the shores in a comfy tent. Lots of people come here in the summertime to swim, fish, and hike as well. The view of the Cascades from Lake Chelan is Mother Nature’s icing on the cake.
4.
Mount Rainier National Park
The drive up to Mount Rainier is quiet and scenic, perfect for some family bonding time. If you venture up to see Mount Rainier, bring some water to drink, as it gets hot as heck walking up the hill to the viewpoint. Stop inside the Mount Rainier gift shop and buy some trinkets and souvenirs to take back home. There are some really wonderful camping spots along the route to Mount Rainier, so do your research to find a camping site perfect for your family.
5.
Columbia River Gorge
The Columbia River Gorge would make for a marvelous vacation. There are several RV camps and regular camps nearby if that’s your jam. You and the fam can also go hiking, visit a waterfall, drive around and take in the nature sights, or perhaps plan your trip around one of the major concerts at The Gorge Ampitheatre.

There you have it; 5 great suggestions for a family vacation in Washington state this summer. Make sure you pack a lot of delicious snacks and a road trip music playlist for the trip, and have some fun!
