Of course, after you've done all the sighseeing for the day, it's nice to unwind at your site and enjoy a great campfire, discussing the highlights of your day.

Smores are always popular around the fire, or just plain marshmallows and hotdogs.

As a child groing up in Minnesota, I would beg to camp at KOA, since those seemed to be the nicest and usually had a pool.

Summertime meant camping on the weekends. And, for the 4th of July, we would always travel to Clear Lake, South Dakota. We pitched our tents near the lake and unloaded all the supplies from our station wagon.

Back in those days, there weren't any restrooms. Heck, there wasn't even an outhouse. I hated it.

That's what the trees and the lake were for.

The following day, my dad would take us to Watertown, where we would spend our saved allowances on fireworks.

That night and into the days leading to the 4th of July, we would enjoy our own great displays of colorful fireworks.

Years later, dad upgraded us to a tent-trailer. This was big. Today, my husband have a "Lil Snapper." I believe it may be the last one around. Maybe we'll see you around a campfire soon!
