FX has barely scratched the surface of its Katrina-centric second season of American Crime Story, and is already planning a third to rake in the Emmys. The network has officially renewed Ryan Murphy’s other anthology for Season 3, plotting to chronicle the murder of fashion designer Gianni Versace.

Network heads made the announcement before any official title or cast to American Crime Story Season 2 have been confirmed, noting that both the Katrina and Versace seasons will film concurrently in early 2017. Katrina will of course air first, placing the third season likely in 2018.

Based on Vanity Fair writer Maureen Orth’s book Vulgar Favors, Season 3 will follow the July 1997 murder of Gianni Versace by Andrew Cunanan, who – historical spoiler alert – committed suicide eight days later as police closed in. Tom Rob Smith will write the first two episodes of Season 3.

We’re still waiting more formal announcements of American Crime Story Season 2, but which should viewers (and Emmy voters) look forward to more?
