Traditionally in the middle of February the kids are treated to a five-day weekend they call "mid-winter break." But since Yakima has taken two snow days, this isn't going to happen for 2017.

Those two days are considered like floating holidays. If Yakima hadn't taken any snow days, they would have the mid-winter break, but instead they took snow days to assure the safety of the kids. The five days were two days off, including a Saturday, Sunday and Monday over the Presidents Day holiday. They will still get a three-day weekend on Feb. 18-20. But classes will be held Feb. 17 and 21 for those snow make-up days.

If your child is absent on those days, they will be marked as such.
