Three movies come to mind when I think of movies that traumatized me as a kid.

Bambi is the first movie I remember that traumatized me. But it's not because of the movie necessarily. Probably a little when Bambi's mom gets shot by the hunter. More so because my mom had told me not to go outside. Of course, I sneaked out the back door without my mom knowing, turned the corner around the house and saw "Bambi" hanging by his legs from my swing set!! Obviously, it was around the time of hunting season. My dad had shot a gorgeous buck who needed to be gutted. What better place to do that than my swing set? I ran back into the house crying & yelling, "Daddy shot Bambi! Daddy shot Bambi!" My mom had no sympathy since she had told me not to go outside. To this day, I can't watch Bambi without reliving that scene in my mind.

E.T. was the second movie that scared the pee out of me! The scene were they quarantine the house with the scary mask on and poor little E.T. is upset & scared. Yeah, that scarred me for life. I even went so far as to make my own kids wait to watch E.T. until they were over 10 years old just so that it wouldn't scare them like it did me.

Halloween is the third movie that frightened me on a completely different level. I was 13 years old when we went to see Halloween on Halloween. Normally, a thriller movie like that would just make me laugh, but for a reason that I still can't explain to this day Michael Myers freaked my bleep out! I don't know if it's because he doesn't talk or what the deal is? All I know is that I can't watch any of the Halloween movies, walk past a Micahel Myers mask in the store around Halloween or even look at a picture of him without starting to get that panic feeling.
