Hip-hop legend Slick Rick will be honored on Sunday (May 20) when he is officially added to the Bronx Walk of Fame. The rapper was already inducted during a ceremony to kick off the 47th annual Bronx Week celebration, but will join #MeToo founder Tarana Burke and actress Maggie Siff when they have their names permanently recognized on street signs along Grand Concourse this weekend.

“We’re proud to welcome back the sons and daughters of The Bronx to celebrate their accomplishments and induct them to the Bronx Walk of Fame,” said Bronx Borough President, Ruben Diaz. “It’s exciting to celebrate our Bronx heroes and sheroes during this celebration of the best of the borough," added Olga Luz Tirado, executive director of The Bronx Tourism Council.

The ceremony will also celebrate the upcoming 30th anniversary of Slick Rick's debut album, The Great Adventures of Slick Rick. Released on Nov. 1, 1988, the project is considered to be one of the most influential albums from the golden era of hip-hop.

It's been more than 15 years since Slick Rick dropped an album, but in 2016, the rapper said he was thinking about creating a follow-up to his 1999 record, The Art of Storytelling. “I was thinking I’ll probably put something together now, put it on the Internet for my core audience to check out… Be good to just put [a new album] out there and show that you’re still a Picasso, a Rembrandt or Van Gogh in this game, you know what I mean?" he said.
