Woo-hoo! First week of August -- which means National Night Out is coming! Traditionally held the first week in August there are plenty of events coming up starting today (Aug. 7)!

So where can you celebrate in our neck of the woods? Here are a few options:

  • National Night Out Hosted By Bearded Monkey Cycling and Fitness (1802 W. Nob Hill Blvd. Here is what their Facebook page event said: "Come celebrate National Night Out Bearded Monkey style- 6-9 p.m. Tuesday. Family-friendly bike ride with YPD leaves the shop at 6:15 pm. Helmets are required and minors must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. What I Crave food truck will be there along with hand crafted lemonade by The Squeeze.

  • Selah National Night Out -- Hosted by the Selah Valley Lions Club from 6-9 p.m. at Wixon Park! Here is what their Facebook event says: "Lions Club will be serving hot dogs and soda."
  • Sunnyside National Night Out -- Hosted by Sunnyside United-Unidos, 1901 E. Lincoln Ave., Sunnyside, from 6-9 p.m. Here is what their Facebook event says: "See us at National Night out at Central Park for your free prescription lockbox! Join the city for free food, free swimming passes, free games, and visit other booths! It is going to be a great family night!"
  • Toppenish National Night Out -- Tuesday Aug. 7, from 6-8 p.m., 20 Asotin Ave., Toppenish. Here is what their Facebook page had to say: "The Yakima Humane Society will be in attendance at both of this year's National Night Out, hosted by the Yakima Housing Authority. Join us for an evening of encouraging partnerships between the police and the community, as well as neighborhood camaraderie!   • Yakima National Night Out -- Hosted by the Yakima Humane Society Wednesday, Aug. 8, from 6-8 p.m. at 110 South Ninth Ave. (Astria Regional Medical Center). Here is what their Facebook event says: "The Yakima Humane Society will be in attendance at both of this year's National Night Out, hosted by the Yakima Housing Authority. Join us for an evening of encouraging partnerships between the police and the community, as well as neighborhood camaraderie!   • Grandview National Night Out -- Tuesday, Aug. 14, brought to you by The Grandview School District and The City of Grandview. Here is what it said on their Facebook page event: "The community is invited to attend Grandview's annual National Night Out event, set to take place from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 14, at Westside Park (the pool park.) There will be free food, a bouncy house slide, balloons, face painting, free swimming and much more! It's a chance to get together with your friends, family, neighbors and community members and enjoy an evening of free family fun.
