Janet Jackson made a very special pit stop before her tour hit Houston Saturday night (Sept. 9) at the Toyota Center.

On Friday (Sept. 8), the music icon made a surprise appearance at the George R. Brown Convention Center, where nearly 1,600 Hurricane Harvey evacuees are currently gathered.

Accompanied by her brother Randy Jackson, as well as Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner, Miss Jackson (if you’re nasty) shared a message of solidarity and support on Instagram and Twitter, writing, “As we visit shelters here in Houston, our thoughts are with those affected by the [earth]quake in Mexico, [Hurricane] Irma & storms in [South] Asia & Africa.”

On Wednesday, Jackson revealed that despite the stormy weather, she would keep her Houston tour date intact, sharing in a video on Twitter, “I’m here to tell you that we are doing the show in Houston. But we’re gonna roll in early because we want to visit some of the shelters. We also want to do something special for the victims.”

Jackson’s Houston concert is dedicated to hurricane victims, and she will donate proceeds from the show to local relief organizations.
