With near record-breaking temps this week in the Yakima Valley, let's remind ourselves that it could be worse.

Here now, the highest temperatures ever recorded on Earth ...

According to the Guinness Book of World Records, the highest ground temperature ever recorded was a whopping 134 degrees in Death Valley, CA on July 10, 1913.

By continent:
Africa - Tunisia 131 °F
Asia - Kuwait 129.2 °F
Europe - Greece 118.4 °F
Australia - 123.3 °F
South America - Argentina - 120 °F

As for Yakima, we still have a way to go to reach the 110 mark set, coincidentally, on Aug. 10, 1971
