Looks like we have another day where schools are closed due to the bad weather. This means that kids will be staying at home with their parents ALL. DAY. LONG. There will be a lot of statements, some rational and others quite annoying:

"Mommy, I'm bored!" - But I have to work!

"Mommy, I'm hungry!" - But I have to...!

"Mommy, I don't have anyone to play with!" - But I have...!

"Mommy, I want to go outside and eat the snow and the ice!" - But I...

"Mommy, we're out of toilet paper again!" - But...

Oh, your kids don't say those things? Is it only just me?

I am here to help you out, parents! My list of the top fivee mergency things a mom (or dad) needs to have handy in the cupboards, will help you make it through the whole day without losing your mind! This emergency kit is especially helpful if you have to bring your child/children to work with you (except you can't bring the wine with you, darn it). If you don't have these items in your tool kit, then you need to run, not walk, to the nearest grocery store and stock up!

  • Cereal (Lucky Charms is a favorite in my household)
  • Ice Cream Cones (and make sure you already have some ice cream)
  • Microwave Popcorn (We love the "Movie Theater" flavor the best)
  • Wine (not those little wimpy-sized bottles, it's time to bring in the big guns, like, at least the 1.5 L size wine bottle!)
  • Hot Cocoa

Some honorable mentions include macaroni and cheese (I just threw that in there because I love M&C), ground turkey (or beef) for spaghetti, spaghetti sauce, and some chicken noodle soup!

I actually have run out of every one of the things on my emergency list except for the ice cream cones, so if you need some, just holla at me!
